Darkness at Noon: The Physics of Eclipses
August 14, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Come one, Come all!!! Back to the Sugar Maple Bar for yet another installment of the Underground Science Society, where UW Milwaukee’s very own Kristina Islo, PhD student from the Center for Gravitation, Cosmology & Astrophysics and avid member of the Coffeeshop Astrophysics team, will wow you with the wonders of the heavens by explaining the science behind eclipses!!
Not only that, but she will give expert advice on how to make the best of the upcoming once-in-almost-a-century, coast-to-coast total solar eclipse that will be taking place on 8/21/2017!!
Bring your thirst for knowledge!! Bring your friends!! Bring your own solar-eclipse-gazing headbox if you must!!!
Hope to see you there!!
Caveat: As a member of the Coffeeshop Astrophysics team, Kristina will actually be giving the very same talk on eclipses the day prior (8/13/17) at their usual venue, Anodyne Coffee in Walkers Point. Just wanted to make that clear in case we have any member crossover. But if you can’t make it to her talk that Sunday, or if you prefer to learn your astrophysics in a bar with over 50 delicious beers on tap, OR if you just want to come to both talks and then look like a super smartypants at the USS talk when you know all the answers to every question… then we hope to see you on Monday, 8/14/17!!
